Globally, 8 billion plastic bottles disposed of every year are shampoo and conditioner bottles. In just 6 months of 2019, we have stopped 10,000 plastic bottles from reaching the landfills. It’s obvious that we’re ecstatic. When we started, one of the biggest question on everybody’s mind was, “How will changing the way I shampoo create any difference at all?”. You changed, your friend changed, your family changed and THAT is the difference you made. While 10,000 is only a tiny milestone in the grand scheme of things, we’re extremely proud of our Tribe of Switchers. Thank you for choosing health and sustainability and thank you for letting us be a part of your journey.
With the belief you placed in us, we’ve not just stopped 10,000 plastic bottles from reaching the landfills but also 2,000 toothbrushes and thousands and thousands of plastic shrink/bubble wraps, plastic tapes and boxes used in shipping. “We see the next half being even more fruitful with the upcoming range of products and initiatives” added Samarth Misra, Director, Marketing and Operations. Prosenjit Som, our Design Guru and in-house critic said, “What sustainability needs is well-designed products and initiatives and I’m happy that we’re able to inspire that.”
What’s the significance of this tiny milestone, we asked our Co-founder, Abhishek. He said, “We have taken out 10,000 bottles from circulation. 10,000 plastic bottles out of which only 8% would have maybe gotten recycled, and even lesser repurposed. We directly cut down plastic consumption at Step 1.”
While this makes our Co-founder and Chief Sustainability Officer, Rhea, quite happy, she had this to say, “I’m more eager for us to reach the next milestone. We’re excited to expand our product portfolio and truly make the fix as simple as a switch.”
She added, “We’re super thankful to our Tribe of Switchers who have shown support, given suggestions, critique, feedback, ideas and really propelled us forward.”
This one is to all of you who made the switch and to everyone who will #MakeTheSwitch. Cheers!
