Not Made in China*(read the story below)* Hair Mask

Suitable for – All hair types

Rice rice baby! We’ve all heard of the insane benefits of rice water – it detangles, smoothens, increases shine, promotes stronger and longer hair. Interestingly, many believe that the rice water trend originated from the Yao women of China, who’re known to have beautiful floor-length hair. However, according to researchers, women in the Heian period (794 to 1185 CE) in Japan started this tradition by bathing their hair in rice water.

There are three ways of making rice water for your hair, so let’s get starch-ed!

Soaking

Take half cup of uncooked rice, rinse thoroughly and place it in a bowl with 2 cups of water. Let it soak for 30 mins, strain the rice and use the water directly on your hair.

Fermenting

To ferment rice, wash thoroughly and transfer the rice into a glass bowl and add two cups of water. Let this mixture sit on your kitchen counter for 2 days before using on your hair.

Boiling

In this method, follow the same steps as outlined above before soaking the rice. Instead, of soaking, we will cook the rice in extra water, once the rice is cooked – strain the water and let it cool. Once cool, it’s ready to use!

Which one to pick?

Each hair and scalp type is different. A lot of women prefer fermented rice water instead of boiled and soaked rice water versions. Our recommendation is to use the trial and error method to figure out which one works the best for you.
